Friendly Match with LSU Team@ 05/01/2010

Team:Devang,Venky,Hari,Sanjay,Sekhar(C),Raj,Prashant,Joy,Raghu,Junaid
v LSU team

The match started in Rainy overcast conditions and was scheduled for 12 overs. BRCC won the toss and elected to bowl. The first 3 overs were bit wayward from sekhar and Junaid with a couple of snicks going to boundaries and a big six in the second over. After 3 overs it was 30 for no loss, but the first wicket fell in the first over from raj with hari taking the catch behind the wicket. The next few tight overs from Raghu and Sekhar produced couple of more wickets with batsmen going for big shots. There was a shower after the 6th over, which caused the play to stop for 10 mins and got the match to be reduced to a 10 over game from 12 overs. After the break raj and sekhar bowled beautifully to tighten the screws and take wickets regularly. The LSU team finally finished with 68 for 7 after 10 overs.

BRCC started with Devang and the Venky who was playing for the first time. It was steady but slow start and Devang got bowled in the 2nd over. Hari came next and upped the run rate with a four and a six in the 4th & 5th Over. Venky and Hari nicely rotated the strike, but Venky got out in the 5th over with total at 31.Soon Sanjay and Sekhar fell in quick succession. It was 20 in 18 balls when Raj walked in to join Hari. What followed was some intelligent cricket with hard run twos and singles which made it to 8 in 6 balls when rain again fell. Some singles and a wide made it 3 of 3 and then raj finished the match in style with a 4 over the cover.

ISA Spring 2010 Match#4 FINAL

Comprehensive victory by BRCC over Bumper Offer in the finals by 3 wickets to win our maiden trophy. Chasing 85 to win, BRCC overhauled the target in the 8th over.Yet another superb power hitting by Rasesh.

ISA Spring 2010  Match#3 SEMIFINAL
Team :Sekhar(C),Raj,Hari,Devang,Junaid,Prashant,Atul,Rasesh
vs  Sledge Hammers

The match started with SH(Sledge Hammers) winning the toss and electing to bat and getting to avery good start. The bowling was bit way ward in the first 4 overs i nsome windy conditions and tons of wides down the leg side being send down. The SH top order batted well in the first 5  overs to raise 35.After a 13 run 7th over from Devang ,raj and sekhar bowled well in the last 3 overs to contain the  SH to 71.There were about 22 extras in that score but no body had a clue what was in
store in the next 30 mins.

We started with Rasesh and Atul. After a jittery first over ,Rasesh  literally exploded smacking each and every bowler to all parts of the ground with some real Power hitting.Rasesh was slowly but surely beginning to sound like the "fear factor" for all the opposition bowlers in the competition. There was some breath taking shots and the score board read 40 in the 4th over when rasesh finally perished. After that  Atul and Hari played sensibly to take the score to 60  in the  7th over before both got out in quick succession. But Devang and Raj made sure that it was a comprehensive victory with some good batting to finish the match with 8 balls to spare.

ISA Spring Tournament 2010 Match #2
Team: Shekhar(cpt), Raja, Hari, Devang, Sanjay, Moin, Vijai and Arun
vs Team Venu Nagineni

Once again, BRCC lost the toss and were handed the ball. Shekhar opened the bowling and was exceptional in his line and length. The opponents opened with a baseball player, who was swinging his arms but unable to negotiate the ball that was bowled on his leg. In the first 3 overs, they had scored only 8 runs. Devang went for some stick, as the team was trying to up their scoring rate. Wickets kept falling at regular interval, and they were only able to stitch one partnership of substance. The score read 46 for the fall of 6 wickets.

With a low target to chase, Moin and Devang opened the batting. The bowling was tight, and the scoring was not as free flow as the previous match. Moin was the first to go, followed soon by Hari. Devang and Raj got a good partnership going, but fell in close succesion. The score was ticking along nicely, but the loss of wickets was worrying. When Shekhar also fell, the equation read 5 of 11 deliveries. 4 runs were scrambled in the penultimate over, with Arun surviving a close run out call. In the last over, 3 dot balls increased the suspense, and raised the hopes of another super over in the tournament. However Sanjay was able to get one to the offside, and they scrambled for another quick single to finish the match.

ISA Spring Tournament 2010 Match #1
Team: Shekhar(cpt), Raja, Hari, Devang, Sanjay, Moin, Junaid and Rasesh
vs Jaguars 3105

BRCC started its campaign at the ISA Spring Cricket Tournament 2010 in style by mauling the hapless Jaguars. Winning the toss, the Jaguars elected to bat. Shekhar opened the bowling and kept the line tight despite the windy conditions. The batting side was happy nudging the ball around for singles and the occasional wides. Devang got the first breakthrough. Raj and Junaid were the other 2 bowlers and were all accurate for the most part. The only hits to the boundary came in the 8th over, and they managed to reach 55 of the stipulated 10 overs. A big contributor to the score was the extras.

Rasesh and Devang opened the batting for BRCC. Rasesh was in an especially belligerent mood, going after the bowling from the get-go. With consecutive hits to the fence in all directions, he plundered 15 runs from the first over. The bowling side knew they were in for a treatment. The second over was tight, and the runs came in singles. Against the run of play, Devang got out trying to get one past the square leg boundary. Hari came in next, and played responsibly rotating the batting and giving as much of the strike to Rasesh. The third and fourth over went for more runs, as BRCC closed in on the target. The winning runs came of Rasesh's bat and in the same manner as the rest of his batting, as he belted a no-ball full toss straight past the bowler's head.

Team A: Devang(cpt),Arun,Sanjay,Srikanth,Joy,Sharma,Mandeep
Team B: Srini(cpt),Srikanth,Srikanth,Junaid,Nawaz,Rony,Atul

Team B opened the batting. They started slowly with only 8 off the first 2 overs. The third over though went for plenty. After that scoring was at a brisk pace with all the batsmen chipping in.The last over was Devang was especially brutal as Nawaz hit 3 consecutive sixes to take the score to 80 off 8 overs. Junaid opened the bowling for Team B. While a few singles were taken, the scoring was slow. It was in the fourth over that the scoring really opened up. Off the over, there were a couple of sixes and wides to move the score to 29. The next over also went for runs, and suddenly Team A was scoring at exactly the required rate. Sanjay and Mandeep played beautifully to get the asking rate under control. Off the last over9 were needed and Sanjay launched a huge six. With 3 more remaining, the winning runs were taken off the last ball because of a wide.

Team A: Devang(cpt),Arun,Sanjay,Srikanth,Mandeep,Nawaz
Team B: Joy,Srikanth,Srikanth,Junaid,Atul

Team A opened the batting and from the onset started scoring briskly. Junaid's first over went for plenty. Atul bowling second also went for plenty of stick. None of the bowlers were able to restrict, as Sanjay, Mandeep and then Devang all went great guns. In 5 overs, they had amassed 59 runs. Team B started slowly and the bad light and good bowling limited their scoring opportunities. With over 12 required, they were only able to score 4 runs per over. Over that they also lost wickets at regular intervals. In the end, they were all out with over 30 runs behind the asking number.

BPL Tournament Super 4s Match #2(postponed due to rain)
Team: Shekhar(cpt),Raj, Hari, Manu(wk), Arun, Nawaz, Junaid, Atul, Jas
vs Fake BPL Players

Yet another toss went Shekhar's way and we elected to bowl first. Shekhar started the bowling and bowled a good over first up. Junaid bowled the next and managed to beat the batsmen with his pace. He also got his first wicket in the over as the batsman miscued to be caught spectacularly by Nawaz. The first big over for the batting side came in the fourth over as a four and a few extras were conceded. After that the batsmen kept ticking away at singles and twos. Another expensive over saw the scoring rate go over 8 an over, and put us on the backfoot for the first time in the match. The bowlers however pulled back in the last 5 overs taking wickets regularly and not allowing the batsmen to settle.   The final score at the end of 12 overs was 64 for the loss of 7 wickets.

Atul and Manu opening the batting and in the first 2 overs scored nicely without any big hits. The bowlers helped by giving away a couple of extras. Manu however fell to freakish stumping off a wide ball. Batting next Hari and Atul made sure no wickets fell, but the runs were getting dried up and the asking rate kept going up. Atul fell to a brilliant catch just when he was looking to break loose. Coming next Shekhar could also not get going and edged one that ballooned up and was caught. Next to fall was Raj who got a faint edge to the keeper. With the asking rate increasing in each over, Hari fell to a ball that dipped and rolled on to the stumps. Next up was Jas, who got a couple of good hits to revive our hopes somewhat. But he too fell trying to go for the big hit. With 31 required off 3 overs, Nawaz got some good hits in the 10th over to get 9 off it. In the 11th over he too fell trying to clear the boundary. Last man was Junaid, who also tried to get one to go over the ropes but was well caught in the deep to end our inning at 45 all out.

This was our last match in the tournament as we finished third in the Super 4s stage. The finals between the Autobots and Fake BPL players will be played on 7/18/2009, while we resume our regular match schedule.

BPL Tournament Super 4s Match #3
Team: Shekhar(cpt), Raj, Hari, Sanjay, Arun, Junaid, Manoj(wk), Jas, Atul
vs Autobots

Opting to bowl, Jas was brought into bowl the first over. The move backfired as the opening batsmen were looking to hit everything and the slow, well pitched deliveries were perfect for them. Three boundaries were scored as 15 runs were taken off the first over. Junaid, Shekhar and Raj pegged them back with some fiery pace and line, and got some wickets in the bargain. After 7 overs the score read 34 for 4. Another surprising bowling change was made, to bring in Sanjay. After a few wayward balls that went for wides, a couple of balls were hit into the stands and another expensive over took the momentum back to the opposing team. Even though only 9 runs came in the last 3 overs, the damage was done and score read 66 all out. The pick of the bowlers was Raj who was bang on target and also effected a couple of good catches in the deep.

Sanjay and Atul opened the batting. Autobots' opening bowlers were brilliant and bowled a tight line without giving any runs in the form of extras. The batsmen also found it hard to get runs thanks to some good fielding. Atul was the first to go trying to force the issue and was held to a good catch. We were able to get to double digits only in the 5th over. Sanjay and even Shekhar fell, unable to get anything going. Hari and Raj came together, and finally the scoreboard started trickling along. By then the asking rate was well over 8 runs an over. With 28 to get off 3 overs, Raj retired, and then Hari who was playing with a runner got out. The remaining batsmen were under pressure and they couldnt connect bat to ball. Runs came in singles but the boundaries that were much needed eluded us. In the end, the team lost by 10 runs. Autobots move into the finals with a perfect record in the Super 4s, while we have to wait till July 11th to complete our previous day's rain interrupted match.

BPL Tournament Super 4s Match #1
Team: Shekhar(cpt),Raj, Arun, Manu(wk), Sanjay, Joy, Jas,Srini,Nawaz
vs Streethawks

For the fourth time in a row, Shekhar won the toss and elected to bowl. Our bowling attack was weakened by the absence of Junaid and Atul. Hari was also absent because of his work commitments. In their place Srini, Arun and Joy were in the team. Our opening bowlers, Shekhar and Nawaz kept the bowling tight and the scoring was slow. However, both could not get any early breakthroughs. In fact the first wicket fell in the 4th over and that too was a runout. The scoring jumped up after 4 overs, as the batsmen were able to get some boundaries off Raj and Jas. Shekhar bought himself back in the 8th over to stem the flow of runs. Sanjay provided a crucial breakthrough bowling a slow one that beat the captain's bat and hit the wicket. In the very next over, Jas got one to go through the batsman's defenses for the third wicket. In the end they had posted a very competitive 87 on the board of 12 overs. Our fielding was a bit poor as a couple of chances were let go that should have been taken. A lot of runs also came of extras, as a very large number of wides and noballs were bowled.

Sanjay and Srini opened the batting. The first over, we scored only 2 runs as both batsmen were looking to settle. In the second over, Srini was bowled off the legside. Manu coming in at one down set about with Sanjay, taking singles and rotating the strike. Sanjay had some good hits that went for runs. Manu was the next to go, mishitting a ball that was pitched wide of the offstump and ball ballooned in the air to be taken by the keeper. Raj then came and from the onset played some lovely shots to keep the scoring rate on par with the asking rate. Sanjay fell trying to clear the mid on boundary. Shekhar and Raj then came together and it was a run feast after that. Every ball was hit for runs. A couple of overs going for more than 15, turned the face of the match. The opposite team looked demoralized, and they were further down, when their fourth bowler was reported for chucking and they had to find a replacement. Their fielding also got sloppy as a couple of hits went through their legs for boundaries. By the end of the 8th over, only 7 runs were required to get. Three balls later, it was all over as Raj scored 2 beautiful boundaries on both sides of the ground. A tremendous batting effort from the two clinched the match, as we overhauled the highest score posted in this tournament in style.

BPL Tournament Match #3
Team: Shekhar(cpt.),Atul, Nawaz, Hari, Manoj(wk), Raj, Manu, Jas, Junaid
vs Sledgehammers

Shekhar won his third toss in a row and decided to chase once again. The sledgehammers started well without losing wickets. The scoring was slow as the bowling was tight and accurate. The first breakthough came in the 6th over. The next over from Jas was the turning point. 2 wickets fell of the first 2 balls and that really pegged them back. Jas got another wicket of the last ball to make it 3. In the very next Shekhar managed a 2 in a row of his own. The remaining batsmen did not last very long and they were cleaned up at a total of 40.

Nawaz and Atul started slowly knowing that big hitting was not needed. Only 7 were scored of the first 2 overs. Both batsmen fell trying to clear the boundaries. After that Raj and Hari got together and played responsibly. They were careful not to give away their wickets, especially Raj who failed to open his account on the previous 2 occasions. They were able to find the gaps and the running was excellent. The target of 41 was easily overhauled in 8.4 overs. With this win, our team maintains a perfect win record and moves to the second round as the top team from Group A.

BPL Tournament Match #2
Team: Shekhar(cpt.),Atul, Nawaz, Hari(wk), Raj, Arun, Manu, Jas, Junaid
vs Autobots

Shekhar won another toss and put Autobots to bat. They started slowly and lost early wickets. Our first 4 overs were tight. Their fourth wicket pair however were in good form and started a blitzkieg. The scoreboard was jogging along nicely at more than 7 an over with the pair going great guns. The left hand-right hand combination was giving all sorts of problems for our bowlers. Their main batsman was finally dismissed to a great running catch in the deep by Atul. After that the runs dried out and they finished all out at the last ball of a brilliant over from Nawaz. The team was excellent on the field with some good catches and excellent runouts. the target set by the Autobots   was 73 of 12 overs.

The batting once again started badly with Nawaz falling to the first ball of the innings. Atul and Hari then set about repairing the innings and kept the runs ticking at a fine pace. Atul made up for his expensive over by dispatching the bowlers to both sides of the field. Hari, in a rare display of impatience tried to clear the leg side boundary but was caught. Atul also fell immediately. Raj again fell trying to clear the offside boundary, holing out to the fielder. After that Jas and Shekhar got together and played nicely to keep the asking rate well under control. Jas especially played some lovely cricketing shots that were a treat to watch. With under 4 per over to get, Jas and Shekhar fell and there was a pressure on the batsmen again. Manu then survived some close chances mistiming his shots but kept the strike rotating. In the last over with 4 to get, Junaid played a nice straight drive to clear the bowler's head and win the match.

BPL Tournament Match #1
Team : Shekhar(cpt.), Hari, Raja, Manu, Arun, Manoj(wk), Junaid, Nawaz, Jas
vs Category 5

We won the toss and elected to field. Shekhar opened the bowling, and bowled a fiery pace hitting the correct line straight away. The first over saw the fall of their opening batsman. Junaid, one of our surprise packages for this tournament also started well. For Category 5, the wickets kept falling at regular intervals thanks to some great bowling by all the bowlers, and some sharp work in the field. Manoj was especially brilliant behind the wickets effecting an excellent runout and a good caught behind. Other than one of their middle order batsmen, none of them were able to get going. Some late hitting managed to get them to 46 all out.

Arun and Nawaz opened the batting for the team. In the very first over after a quick exchange of singles, Arun was bowled playing acroos the line to a full length ball. Coming at one down, Hari kept the strike rotating while Nawaz played some good shots. The scoreboard was ticking along nicely at over 5 per over. There was a brief collapse in the middle, as Nawaz, Junaid and Raja fell in quick succession. Manu stemmed the fall by some juicy hitting, playing to this strength on the legside. With the target almost in reach however, Manu fell to a ball that was slow and kept straight. Jas however kept the scoreboard ticking with some good shots. Hari fell soon after, again to a ball that kept low and full. With just 2 wickets in hand, Category 5 guys suddenly felt they had a chance to win the match, with 8 runs still required to get. However their bowlers leaked unneccessary runs through wides and then Shekhar did the final honors hitting a boundary to win in 10 overs.
